17.04.20

Hi! The other day we looked at what three travellers said about their future plans. Let's now focus on the grammar aspects to talk about plans. (you might already know about it, but let's revise a little bit)

Open your Student's book at page 21. Do activities:

  • 3A  (Complete with "going to", listen and check AUDIO
  • 3B (Write PL, if it refers to a plan, or PR, if it refers to a prediction.)
  • 3C (Go to Grammar Bank 3A (pagee 130). Read about "going to".)

ANSWERS

As you have read, "going to" is formed with the verb be +going + infinitive and it is used for plans and intentions. The plan might be in the near future or more distant. Look at the following examples:

  • I'm going to do a lot of exercise this evening.
  • After I finish University I'm going to travel all over South America.

We also use it for predictions when there's some evidence, for example we can see something:

  • Be careful! Those books are going to fall
  • Look at the clouds. It's going to rain.

Now, let's put this into practice. Because of the lockdown, I think a lot about all the things that I'm going to do when this is over. Read the following text about some people's plans. TEXT

What about you? What are you going to do after the lockdown? Write about your plans and send them by email. Here are MY PLANS

Take care
