15.5.20

Hi there!

How you doing? Today we are going to focus on a grammar point: the use of present continuous to talk about future arrangements.

As you will see when you do the activities, the present continuous is used to talk about plans that we have made at a fixed time or place in the future. The place and time have been decided, so they are almost definite.

As you will read, there s a difference between the present continuous and going to. Sometimes, both structures can be used to express the same idea: I'm washing /going to wash my hair this evening.
But there are some differences: Going to is preferred when we talk about intentions and decissions, maybe you have not arranged the time or place: I'm going to tell Phil what I think about him.
Present continuous is preferred when we talk about arrangements: I'm seeing Ana tonight. (it is common to use time expressions like tomorrow, tonight...)

So, let's get started!

Open your Student's book at page 23. Do activities:
  • 2A
  • 2B Listen and check
  • 2C > Read the grammar bank (Page 130 3B)
  • 3B a and b (page 131)

Have a great weekend 🙂
